Improving Access To Power Supply
Following the passage of the NERC Order 172, the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), in collaboration with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) and Kano Electricity Distribution company (KEDCO) has introduced reforms to simplify the processes for getting electricity, with the aim to improve time and cost efficiency

Impact
Introduction of E-system for application and approval for new connections to the power grid
- Electricity users can now log on to an online application portal to apply for connection to an electricity distribution grid by the local Disco (E.g. IKEDC, IKEDC, KEDCO, etc.)
Impact
The number of steps involved in the application process for new connections to the distribution grid now reduced from 8 to 5
- Reduction in number of procedures for new connections to the distribution grid

- Now, new connections to the electricity distribution grids can be expected within 30 days, down from 191 days
