Improving The Experience Of Travellers Into And Out Of Nigeria
Public perception about a country is often influenced by the quality of service received at a country’s airport. As a result, the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), in collaboration with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Federal Ministry of Interior (FMI), Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) introduced a set of reforms to improve the quality of airport service. These are aimed at improving the experience of travelers coming into and leaving the country by`decreasing the time spent at airports and reducing processes required to enter the country.
Reforms that have been implemented for easy Entry & Exit of People

Introduction of E-Platforms for Visa & Work Permit applications
- Visa-on-arrival application now done online and issued within 48 hours
- Online Submission and determination of applications for Temporary Work Permit within 48hrs by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)

Cashless policy in all Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) operated airports
- Implementation of cashless policy at all FAAN operated airports to avoid rent-seeking behavior
- Multiple, convenient, automated payment options for travellers at the point of charge

Process Automation
- Manual search tables have been removed from the departure halls of the Abuja and Lagos international airports
- Use of luggage scanners at departure halls of international airports have been introduced
- Automation of the Expatriate Quota (EQ) applications process by Federal Ministry of Interior (FMI)
- All agency activities at the airport have been combined into one passenger interface to reduce time spent by travellers on airport checks and clearance by over 50%

- PEBEC kiosks launched at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), to give travelers and the airport users the opportunity to provide feedback on their experiences and to escalate issues using www.reportgov.ng
